This initiative, part of the Blue Ridge Music Trails, fosters mentorship and collaboration among emerging artists specializing in traditional music within Western North Carolina. The event featured a collaboration between The Allen Boys and DaShawn Hickman, deeply rooted in the Sacred Steel Tradition and serving as the house band for the House of God Church in Mount Airy, NC. They teamed up with Kelley Breiding, a multi-instrumentalist and old-time singer, to merge two distinct strains of traditional Surry County music, exploring connections between their styles and other musical genres. Notably, First Lady Kristin Cooper initiated Music at the Mansion, a video concert series celebrating the diversity of North Carolina’s music, as part of the 2019 Year of Music project, Come Hear North Carolina. This series was made possible through the generous support of the North Carolina Arts Foundation. 0:00 I Just Got Off That Devil’s Train 3:10 I Don’t Know What You’ve Come To Do 8:30 Love’s In Need of Love Today 13:29 Dirty Snake 17:42 Joyful Sound 13:59 Boogie Woogie Preaching Man / Don’t Let the Devil Ride 30:18 Big Boss Man 36:00 Lord, I Need Your Help 42:57 Crazy 47:27 Walking in Jerusalem 51:51 Shake, Rattle, & Roll / I’ve Got A Woman
