4,234 views Aug 20, 2021 Cuban pianist and composer Aldo López-Gavilán performs “Emporium”, his own Concerto for Piano and Orchestra with the West Michigan Symphony conducted by long time collaborator Maestro Scott Speck. This virtual concert took place on May 21 2021 as part of the Hispania Nights Concert Series. Emporium had its World Premiere in 2017 at Classical Tahoe Festival in Reno, NV. The Concerto was commissioned by the Festival and Maestro Joel Revzen. It has been also performed with The Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra (US), La Orquesta Sinfónica de Caldas (Colombia) and the Festival Napa Orchestra (US). Its First Movement was performed by Honored Russian Pianist Svetlana Berezhnaya with The State Academic Symphony Orchestra (Russia) and Conductor – Alim Shakhmametyev (St. Petersburg) in July 2019. The Encore piece (Pan con Timba) is also one of Aldo’s own compositions. This video has been made available to Aldo’s YouTube Channel by The West Michigan Symphony.
